Sonnet of the Shrew

In The Taming of the Shrew, women were expected to be obedient toward men. They were seen and treated as pets by men. Men were less attracted to women that spoke their minds, and favored women that were gentle and quiet. Women who challenged the norm of women were ignored and disgusted by men. Shakespeare was bringing identity roles into play of men and women. He tried to bring the attention of a how woman felt when they were treated lesser than men.

The world is still changing, especially gender, and sexuality. The many things that I disagree with in Petruchio and Katharina's relationship was that their "love" for each other wasn't true. It's cruel to know that Petruchio was manipulating Katharina's mind to control and change her behavior. He has silenced her opinions and will. And just like the love that you couldn't claim
"How touchy and instant this fellow is."
By wanting Bianca's hand like a knave
The words you've spilled are of a hypocrite

Hortensio, quit this endeavoring
"Madam, before you touch the instrument
To learn the order of my fingering"
Is this what you claim to be intimate?

you away with her, since she stooped low
But why should you judge what is known as love?
Be like Kate and person true of candor
Show her love and she'll place you high above

If you think that your widow's been conquered
Then your efforts have left you but squandered
